Ici, un jet de gaz est plac\u00e9 dans le quatri\u00e8me \u00e9tat, un gaz \u00e0 haute \u00e9nergie, et charg\u00e9 \u00e9lectriquement (ionis\u00e9) par une source d&#8217;\u00e9nergie plasma. Afin de pouvoir agir sur le mat\u00e9riau le plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment possible, l&#8217;arc plasma r\u00e9sultant, qui atteint jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 30 000 degr\u00e9s Celsius, est restreint par un gaz de fluidisation. Partout o\u00f9 il rencontre le mat\u00e9riau, il lib\u00e8re son \u00e9nergie \u00e0 l&#8217;objet coup\u00e9 et le fait fondre s\u00e9lectivement.
